You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. - Jim Rohn Ok, well, if I'm the average of the 5 people I spend the most time with, that's a 2 year old, a 10 year old, a 16 year old, my husband, and... my dog.
But seriously. Sometimes negative people end up in your inner circle and you know they're bringing you down. So, how do you identify if someone needs to go and then... how do you cut them out but still keep yourself high vibe?

In our house, the kids clean their bathrooms; that means that our niece (16) cleans the basement bathroom, my stepson (11) cleans the main upstairs bathroom, and my husband and I take care of our ensuite. It's important to us that they learn the skills they need for when they leave home and that they share the responsibility for maintaining the space we all live in.
My husband did a great amount of chores when he was growing up; to be honest, I did far less than the kids in our house do now. I believe we've found a pretty good balance (although, sometimes, you'd think we're making them spend hours and hours on dishes because we don't use a dishwasher).
Hi, I'm Sarra, and I'm a self-proclaimed self-help junkie. Personal development books are my jam. Learning new things gives me so much joy and growing as a person is my favourite past time. I've read more books than I can count in so many areas of life - confidence, mindset, business strategy, productivity and, yes, money.
So, do you want to manage your money better? Maybe pay down your debt, learn to invest, or teach your kids money management skills? Coming at you - money strategy books that will change your life! Look, I'm no parenting expert. I'm about to tell you about our toddler bedtime routine; I cannot guarantee that what we will do will work magic in your home. Heck, I can't even guarantee for myself that these methods will work on our wild child 100% of the time. But these are things that we do to help make bedtime a little bit easier for a spirited child who hates sleep. Honestly, I believe it all comes down to the routine. By following the same steps every single day, it helps her settle in for the night.
Wanna know a secret? I'd never had cornbread until I met my husband and the first cornbread I ever had ... was cornbread I made. I thought it was a pretty boring bread, to be honest and I couldn't understand why he was so into it. Like, yeah, it's a pretty good side for chili but nothing to write home about.
That is, until you had cheese and jalapeños. Those 2 foods can take any recipe to the next level. We've had a tough week, I'm not going to lie. My toddler got sick, then my husband got sick; I can slowly feel myself catching their cold. We learned that the family that moved into our childhood home and adopted our cat (to avoid an unnecessary, stressful move from small town to big city) had surrendered him to the Humane Society and he was not doing well. Then, the brakes on my car started making a very sketchy noise. Oh, and my website went down - yes, again. The issues should be resolved now (fingers crossed). It was Stress City up in here.
So, when life hands you a ton of lemons, how can you turn them into lemonade? If you're anything like me, your closet is full of clothes you never wear, stuff that is either too big or too small or too outdated, along with all sorts of other random stuff that just kind of got ... dumped there. Mom life, right? For me, that included my kimono from when I lived in Japan, an obnoxious Dora the Explorer toy phone that has no real off-switch, my cap from my graduation in 2012, and much, much more. Things got worse and worse until, well, I had to tackle that closet. So, here are my top tips for decluttering your closet!
Growing up, there were always cookies in our house - and I'm not talking stale or store-bought. Other kids would trade me Dunkaroos for my mama's Ginger Snaps. I fell in love with baking with my first batch of Double Chocolate Peppermint Chip Cookies. And this recipe? These cookies? These were some of my favourites.
Truth be told, I couldn't find my mum's recipe - instead, I adapted my own chocolate chip cookie recipe based on what I could remember. Here it is: Mocha Chocolate Chip Cookies. The most popular resolutions for 2018 included: eat healthier; get more exercise; save (more) money; and focus on self-care. If you made one of those resolutions... how are you doing? If the answer is not great, don't worry - you're not alone! In fact, 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by February! If you want to be healthier this year, here are some at-home workout resources that will help you gain strength, lose weight (if you want to!), and take care of yourself - without having to pack a bag, drive to the gym, leave your child in daycare... just to run on a treadmill for 30 minutes (BORING!). You know what I hate? When you have to scroll through someone's entire life story to get to the Instant Pot recipe you want to try for dinner. So, I'll just drop a couple bullet points for your quick perusal, then it's straight to this delicious, quick, Meatless Monday meal.
