Hi, I'm Sarra, and I'm a self-proclaimed self-help junkie. Personal development books are my jam. Learning new things gives me so much joy and growing as a person is my favourite past time. I've read more books than I can count in so many areas of life - confidence, mindset, business strategy, productivity and, yes, money.

So, do you want to manage your money better? Maybe pay down your debt, learn to invest, or teach your kids money management skills? Coming at you - money strategy books that will change your life!

Ok, wait, before I give you the list, I do have to say one more thing.

Just reading a book won't actually change your life. There is this misconception that knowledge is power - in reality, knowledge + inspired action = power. You have to actually do the work. Don't pick up any of these books if you don't plan to actually do something with the information; you're just wasting your time.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is Kiyosaki's own experience growing up with a rich mentor, the father of his friend, and his own dad, and the way both men shaped his understanding of money and investing. The book teaches you how to make money work for you. Some of the information in the book includes:
  • challenges the myth that you need to earn a high income to become rich
  • explains why your house may not actually be an asset
  • teaches you what is an asset and what is a liability

The Total Money Makeover is based on the premise that if you are willing to live like no one else will now, later you can live like no one else can. This is the simplest, most straightforward game plan for completely making over your money habits. It's based on RESULTS and you can expect to:
  • design a sure-fire plan for paying off debt (like, cars, houses, student loans, EVERYTHING!
  • recognize the 10 most dangerous money myths
  • secure your nest egg for emergencies and retirement.
This book completely transformed the way I think about money, the way I spend, and my ability to pay off debt quickly.

Smart Money, Smart Kids comes from financial expert Dave Ramsey and his daughter, Rachel Cruze. The book is designed to help parents teach their kids how to work, spend, save, and give, while also dealing with more challenging issues like avoiding debt and paying cash for college.

As a mom, this book is really important for me and I am looking forward to teaching my daughter to have a healthy, productive relationship with money.

The Little Book that Still Beats the Market is by Joel Greenblatt, the founder and managing partner at Gotham Capital (which has average annualized returns of 40% for over 20 years - if you don't know investing, that's really freakin' good). The book provides a "magic formula" that's easy to use and actually makes sense. The book also teaches:
  • how to view the stock market
  • why most individual and professional investors don't find huge success
  • why the magic formula will continue to work even after everybody knows about it
I vowed to learn everything I could about money in 2018 and this book has helped me in my quest to understand the stock market, investing, and where I want to put my money.
